Fresh off the back of their self-titled debut EP last year, The Buzzing Towers return with a fiery new single titled ‘Canopy’.

A raw and energetic release, the single is about pushing beyond your limits and taking risks to go for what you want. A concept The Towers have well and truly encompassed with Canopy. Taking their music from a Cascade Light to a Jager Bomb.

Channeling colossal guitar sounds, drums that grip you with ferocity and bass lines that not only hold it all together, but lead the charge, The Buzzing Towers are setting the standard high for the rest of the year, with Canopy being just a small taste of what lies ahead in 2021 for the sonic four-piece.

We had a chat Zac, Jack, Darcie and Paul from The Buzzing Towers all about their newest release, what it means to them and what we can expect for the rest of the year!

·Hello hello everyone, how are we today?

 EVERYONE - TIP TOP!

·First things first, for anyone that isn’t familiar with ‘THE BUZZING TOWERS’ – describe your music in 4 words…

ZAC- Jack and I met in high school and reunited in 2018 when we began living together in the shade of the XXXX factory, Milton. This is where we started ‘The Towers’. Darcie and Jack had met a year earlier whilst working together on the Sunshine Coast and freakishly stars aligned when Jack heard Darcie was moving to Brisbane. Two became three. When our first guitarist selfishly left the band to further pursue his medical career, we found a happy- go- lucky golden retriever on the side of the road who could shred a guitar! We named him Paul.

How did you all meet and form the band and does the name have a story behind it? Why are the towers buzzing?

JACK - The name ‘The Buzzing Towers’ is a quote from Zac’s favourite childhood movie ‘Top Gun’.

Now you’ve just released your new single today titled ‘Canopy’ – talk to us a bit about that! What does the song mean to you all?

ZAC - Canopy is about pushing beyond your limits and finding the courage to swallow your pride when faced with daunting crossroads in life. It’s about taking that risk to go for what you want. It’s taking our music from a Cascade Light to a Jager Bomb.

ZAC - Canopy is our debut single as The Towers with our finalised line-up. Paul and Darcie are on the recording and it’s very raw and very ‘us’, capturing us collectively. It’s taking our music from a Cascade Light to a Jager Bomb.

What’s your typical songwriting and recording process?

DARCIE - Greeno (Zac) brings the skeleton of a song and we then inject the flavours of Jack and Paul and myself. This results in the sound of The Buzzing Towers.

What do you want people to take away from this release?

ZAC - We want to make our mark as 4 people creating. We want people to feel uplifted and rejuvenated. This is us taking the first steps stamping our unique mark in the music scene.

You’ve also got your single launch coming up next weekend, how keen are you for that and what else can fans expect from The Buzzing Towers for the rest of the year?

PAUL - You can expect a lot of activity from us for the rest of the year. We have a bank of bangers that we can’t wait to share with everyone! We love playing live, getting sweaty and bringing it to the stage. We have been working hard on our live show so the more of these the better!

Now to support local, give a shout out to 3 other artists making their way through the Brissy music scene that you love.

DARCIE - Walken, Annoying Neighbours and Blue Savannah Underworld.

Finally, to wrap it up let’s do a few rapid-fire Q’s:

·         Best song to mosh to?

  • SKYN - Annoying Neighbours

·         Favourite Brisbane venue?

  • The Zoo

·         Best beer?

  • Green Beacon - Wayfarer

·         If you could tour with one artist, who would it be?

  • Waax

The Buzzing Towers are "Brisrock’ at its most pure and urgent. With a “leave it all on the stage” attitude coupled with their uplifting rock and roll ballads, the band welcomes all with their energy and leaves you buzzing for more.
