NEWS: Interpol and Bloc Party announce joint Australian tour

Iconic indie rock bands Interpol and Bloc Party have delighted their devoted Australian fanbase by announcing a highly anticipated joint tour, scheduled to take place this November in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane.

Hailed as one of the pioneering groups of the early 2000s New York indie music scene, Interpol will make a triumphant return to Australia after their last visit in 2019. Known for their magnetic stage presence and atmospheric sound, the revered rock outfit from New York City will captivate audiences with their celebrated alternative anthems from albums like "Turn On The Bright Lights," "Antics," and "El Pintor." Expect an unforgettable experience as Interpol showcases their impressive musical repertoire, including tracks from their latest album, "The Other Side of Make-Believe," performed live in Australia for the first time.

In their own words, Interpol expressed their excitement, stating, "We are thrilled to hit the road in Australia alongside our friends in Bloc Party. Join us for an incredible time!"

Meanwhile, Bloc Party, the acclaimed indie-rock force from the UK, will make their long-awaited return to Australian stages, having last performed there in 2018. Renowned for their genre-bending style, Bloc Party will electrify audiences with their illustrious collection of revered songs from albums like "Silent Alarm," "A Weekend In The City," "Intimacy," and their latest release, "Alpha Games," which debuted in 2022. Adding to the excitement, Bloc Party has recently released two singles, "Keep It Rolling" and "High Life," with "The High Life EP" set to drop on Friday, July 21.

Bloc Party's breakthrough occurred in 2003 when lead singer Kele Okereke shared their single, "She's Hearing Voices," with Alex Kapranos, the lead singer of Franz Ferdinand, and BBC Radio 1 DJ Steve Lamacq. Impressed by the track's brilliance, Lamacq played it on his show, catapulting Bloc Party into the spotlight. Their debut album, "Silent Alarm," released in 2005, achieved platinum status. With nearly two decades and six albums' worth of material, fans attending the live shows will be treated to a treasure trove of favorites, including "Banquet," "Helicopter," "This Modern Love," and "Flux."

Commenting on the tour, Kele Okereke shared, "The histories of Bloc Party and Interpol have intersected at various stages of our careers. It felt natural for us to solidify that connection by performing together in one of our favorite countries on Earth. We can't wait to return to Australia in November."

This co-headlining tour promises to be an unforgettable experience, an opportunity not to be missed. Prepare yourself for a night of powerhouse performances as Interpol and Bloc Party share the stage and deliver their signature sounds to Australian audiences this November.
