Velvet Bloom (maddy herbert) chats about her swoony new music video!
Velvet Bloom, the neo-soul, alternative-pop and jazz-rock music project fronted and founded by Maddy Herbert, has recently released a silky new single called ‘7hundred5’.
The new release is nostalgia in a song. Encompassing the essence of longing and the prospect of loss, it oozes with lush vocals and acoustics.
Today marks the release of the honey dipped singles stunning music video, created by Nathaniel Nagorcka Sewart. The colourful visuals captivate viewers with nostalgic pre-covid live performance footage and glimpses of the bands beautiful local surroundings.
We were lucky enough to have a chat to Maddy Herbert about her swoony new tune and what it was like working with Nathaniel to create such a special video.
UG: Your swoony new tune ‘7Hundred25’ has already received a great response from listeners, how does it feel to hear so many people loving the track?
MADDY: It always makes my heart so full knowing that people are invested in our music! We have such an incredible community surrounding us and we feel absolutely blessed to be immersed in such a supportive environment. When you put your heart and soul into a release, it's always inspiring to know that your work is resonating with so many loyal listeners!
UG: Talk us through the music video, what was it like working with Nathaniel and what’s your favourite part about the vid!
MADDY: Nathaniel is a good mate of ours and it’s always such wonderful experience collaborating with friends.
He comes to all of our shows and always brings his VHS! Nathaniel always captures really special moments for us and it was lovely being able to put these moments into a video at such a difficult time. We feel that the visual for '7Hundred25’ will encourage connection and a little bit of nostalgia for our live shows.
Nathaniel and I both grew up on the Mornington peninsula and share the belief that our natural environment inspires our art, our relationships and so much more.
UG: Watching the video back must make you feel extremely nostalgic for playing gigs pre-covid, what are you most looking forward to when you return to performing!?
MADDY: We are missing our live performances so much BUT we are so excited to be performing our first live show in months on NOV 28.
I miss the energy in a room at live shows, being on stage with my wonderful band and connecting with people through music. The band is itching to get back to touring and expanding our audience. This ‘7Hundred25’ visual gives me hope that one day things will return to some form of normality!
Hailing from Melbourne, Herbert also performs solo and with different variations of her live band “The Vito Collective”.
