Brisbane’s mellow indie-pop trio, BUSINESS, make a grand entrance today with their debut EP, Like You.

The career-blossoming release is a carthatic collection combining lo-fi stripped-back tunes with detailed and intricate lyricism that flow seamlessly together.

Spanning 5 tracks, Like You, pays tribute to the bands independent diy-garage-attitude, with the entirety of the EP recorded inside Regan’s bedroom.

We had a chat to the trio all about BUSINESS and their debut release - So dive in and meet the Brisbane newcomers you’d be dumb not to listen to.

  • Hey guys, how the heck are you!?

We’re good! Buzzing on the fact our EP is finally out.

  • First things first, for anyone that doesn’t know ‘BUSINESS– describe your band in 4 words…

    • Lo-Fi, Indie, DIY, Madness

  • How did you all meet and form the band – and does the band name have a story behind it, or is that none of our BUSINESS (ha ha ha)?

    • We’d already known each other as musicians for a while, one day we just felt inspired to put ourselves together and see what came of it. In terms of the name, it’s a bit of a piss-take. With everything happening in the world around us, we just wanted to make sure we were having fun. Real business people are usually pretty serious, we’re far from that.

  •  Love it. Now you’ve just released your debut EP today titled ‘Like You’ – talk to us a bit about that!

The whole thing was recorded in Regan’s bedroom. We only have two microphones, so we had to get pretty creative when it came to recording the drums. It was all a huge learning experience to be honest, but we think it was worth it in the end because we got to hold onto the DIY thing. The independent part of it is something we find appealing.

  • Reflecting on the song-writing, recording and releasing process of your first EP, how did it all go and is there anything you would change?

    • Yeah, there’s probably a little bit we’ll change for next time but for the majority, we ended up finding a good workflow. A lot of bands work on songs for weeks or months and then go book a studio to record, we do everything ourselves in Ableton as it comes to us. It’s nice to be able to work like that, we can experiment with things really easily and if it doesn’t fit then we scrap it and move on.

  • What do you want people to take away from your work?

    • Just have fun, don’t overthink it. Take away whatever feels best for you.

  • What can fans expect from BUSINESS for the rest of the year!?

    • Our second EP a little later in the year and heaps more live shows. Maybe some visuals?

  • To wrap it up let’s do a few rapid-fire Q’s:
